on trend: picture windows
Sometimes when I'm scrolling through Pinterest, an image just pops out at me. I immediately fell in love with the image below the moment I came across it. For a minute, I could't figure out why I liked it so much. However, it soon became obvious that it was the large beautiful window with the black frame and floor to ceiling drapery. These large picture windows are stunning architectural elements that can be used in many different applications and styles. So I went on a little hunt for a few of my favorite picture window images.
I think one of my favorite aspects of this style of window is how it eliminates some of the separation of inside and outside. They have the tendency to bring the outdoors in and vice versa. The outdoors happen to be the place I'd like to spend all of my time, so you bet that we will have large windows and a lot of natural light in our someday home.
I love that this image portrays how picture windows can and should be used to take advantage of stunning views. If you live in a home out in the middle of nowhere with gorgeous views left and right.. well I say.. bring on the windows!!
When the harmony of the exterior design and interior layout collides.. that is where the magic happens. We love the wholistic approach to design - when homes are designed from the outside in and the inside out, when the entire home is cohesive - and with these large picture windows you've got nothing to hide.
What are your opinions on this design element? Would you rather have loads of natural light and take advantage of beautiful views, or keep all of your privacy inside? We'd love to hear your thoughts!
