on trend: minimal abstracts
Art (and accessories) can be compared to jewelry. They are the finishing touch to a space that brings it all together, makes it feel complete. It can set the mood of the room, establish the energy you feel walking into the space, whether high or low; it can be the focal point or help other parts of the room shine. Art can get complicated really quickly. It can sometimes be one of the longer parts of the design process when selecting the perfect piece. Why? Becasue art is personal. We would suggest that sometimes, simplifying is the best answer. It was Leonardo Da Vinci that said, "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication".
We believe that the most simple art can be the most beautiful. Don't get us wrong, we love an over the top statement piece, but there is something to be said about the uncomplicated. At Akin we're really digging minimal abstract art. These images below have inspired us to think and design more simply, well thought-out, but uncomplicated in nature.
