How was your Thanksgiving? We just finished our second dinner, yep second thanksgiving dinner. We enjoyed Thanksgiving with Griffin's family and his extraordinarily talented mother/chef. The meal was everything Thanksgiving should be. Afterwards, we got to do it all over again with my family tonight! I do have to say, I have NEVER had a more delicious turkey than the one my dad whipped up. And my mom.. works some magic in the kitchen as well. Let's just say we are lucky and very full. I was in charge of dessert today (my favorite part of every meal). I decided to make a key-lime cheesecake. It was THE BEST cheesecake I've made to date. It was light, perfectly cooked and just tart enough. I'm no master in the kitchen but all I'm saying is Kayley would be proud. Back to the reason I'm posting.. At Griffin's house we were placed in charge of the table setting. We had a larger group than usual, so rather than split up family, we decided to put two dining tables together side-by-side. It was perfect! It created just enough extra spots and was so inviting with everyone around. We loved the large toile tablecloth and decided to accent it with black underneath in order to cover the entire table. Really the toile ended up serving as a giant table runner.
We then decided on a neutral color scheme (we love our neutrals) with a splash of gold. We kept everything pretty simple and hand-crafted. The centerpiece was created from branches, pinecones, painted pumpkins, and votives for a romantic-lit quality. We played with height in order to add interest for such a large centerpiece on such a large table while keeping it open to allow all guests to see each other. Large centerpieces are dramatic and look great, but it's always a good idea to keep the line of vision open for your guests. This makes conversation easier and more natural.
I created the nametags with some black cardstock and a gold sharpie. So easy guys. And it looks so good. It looked almost as if the names were gold-leafed. All of this produced a perfect atmosphere for the amazing dinner we were able to have with our family. We are so fortunate to be surrounded by the people who love and support us. We enjoyed every minute of spending time with those who are most important to us!
