mid-century california home

Mid-century modern design could not be more inspiring for me. I lean towards this aesthetic with out even realizing it. So when I stumbled upon this home in Davis, California, a piece of me fell in love. I love the warmth from the rich colors and wood finishes, the timeless furniture choices, and most of all.. the light fixtures.

I'm a little crazy about this dining room. I love how the simple shapes make room for the patterned rug and art piece hanging above the dining table. My husband has always been a fan of the Windsor chair (dining chairs) but I haven't been on board. This dining room, however, is rocking those chairs. And I love love love how the light fixtures repeat the dark lines on top of the room. These mid-century light fixtures might just be my favorite piece in the entire home. The perfect piece of jewelry to complete the look of the space.

And this backyard? What a dream. We are on board with the angular pool and hot tube lines, the pergola with lounge chairs, and the touch of bistro lights for the perfect summer night. Maybe I'm so in love with this landscape because I'm aching for pool season to start here in Utah where the weather keeps turning sour. Regardless, we wanted to share this inspiring space with you to kick off a soon to be summer. I need to get by deck ready for sun-bathing and early morning smoothies.
